Plain-English summary of how Need A Trade handles homeowner privacy, member credentials, and analytics across the publisher's three sites: needatrade.com.au, guides.needatrade.com.au, members.needatrade.com.au, and tradies.needatrade.com.au.

Homeowners reading the guides

The homeowner guides take no signup, no account creation, and no required form submission to read. We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which guides get read — no cross-site tracking, no advertising IDs, no third-party retargeting pixels.

If you write to us (editorial corrections, conduct complaints, general contact) we keep the email and our reply for record-keeping. We do not pass your details to any member, marketer, insurer, or third party.

Tradies applying as members

When a tradie applies to be a Need A Trade member, we collect: trading name, ABN, primary contact, suburbs serviced, licence information where applicable, insurance information, and the documents submitted to support the application (e.g. Certificate of Currency).

Public on the Member Profile: trading name, ABN, suburbs, licence number and class, insurance status, quoting/aftercare statements, listing date, Code version signed.

Private to the publisher: applicant identity documents, full Certificates of Currency, financial details, internal verification notes.

We do not on-sell, swap, or share applicant or member data with any third party. Members can request export or deletion of their full record at any time.

Credentials & document handling

Identity documents submitted during member verification are kept in restricted storage, accessible only to the people doing the verification. Once a member is verified, the source documents are kept for the purpose of re-verification at renewal — not for any other purpose.

If a Member Profile is removed (by request, by Code breach, or by expiry), the supporting documents are deleted on a defined retention schedule.

Cookies & analytics

We use lightweight, first-party analytics across our sites. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site retargeting, or third-party "social" trackers (Facebook Pixel, etc). If we ever add a third-party tool that uses cookies, the privacy policy is updated and a notice appears for at least 90 days.
